In what scenarios does the Scheduled Rides Pickup Guarantee apply? The best way to see if this service is available in your city is to open the passenger app and check for the icon of the car and clock. Notifications are also updated via the mobile App as and when a driver is allotted.

Read on to understand how that could happen. Notsomuch: All that happened was at 5am my uber app sent out request for cars. Uber users will soon be able to schedule rides up to 30 days in advance, according to a press from the company last week. Thanks to this ride-sharing app, you can now learn of the ride in advance of when you'll need it, so your budget won't be filled with question marks when it comes to your transportation.

Scheduling a ride in advance

Scheduling a trip in advance in the Uber or Lyft passenger applications is easy. In the responses currently in this thread I saw at least one frustrated passenger experience where the passenger did not get an early-morning pre-scheduled Uber ride to the airport. The Lyft driver application handles scheduled rides a little differently. She was staying in Los Angles with her parents, they live on the edge of the city so the Lyft driver would have made significant gross income transporting my friend to the airport, if he had showed up. After waiting 5—10 past the pickup time my friend called the Lyft driver at least four times with no response. Now 20 minutes after the driver was supposed to arrive at the pickup point he finally answered her call and said he was so sorry and he was having car problems. She woke up her elderly father from a sound sleep, he put on a coat and drove my friend to the airport in his pajamas. I think we all have to remember Uber and Lyft are typically less expensive compared to other more reliable options. Less expensive means the driver is not earning as much income so… get what you pay for. Yes they were more expensive, but typically comparable to the cost of a taxi ride, but the town car services were reliable. My town car drivers were always professional in every way and I rode in comfort in their immaculately clean vehicles. When the time came to travel to pick her up he make the decision that the trip was no longer worth his time. So scheduling an Uber or Lyft passenger trip in advance is easy using the passenger applications. Uber and Lyft exist because there was a need in the marketplace and they have filled that need very well. One of the primary reasons rideshare transportation is poplar is the price. Expecting high-end features at a low-end price point might be too much to ask. So, was in Madison where it's being tested, had early morning flight at end of confer nice, so scheduled for Uber 4 days in advance for 5am pickup. Everything looked all set, told me inwas confirmed for pickup 5—5:15am. Notsomuch: All that happened was at 5am my uber app sent out request for cars. Not surprisingly, none available that early, so it just kept requesting, 5 min pass still no cars available, going to miss my flight so I scramble and luckily overbooked cab company took pity and sent a driver already with another passenger to pick me up. Hope this helps others from making same assumptions and mistake I did. Sadly -- and strangely -- no. They seem stubbornly insistent that pre-bookings fundamentally break their model. See this employee's response: Like I said in my reply to it, that doesn't make sense. Plus, it gives them more informaiton about future demand patters that are usually expensive to get. What especially bothers me is that a big chunk of Uber's legal defense for running this service is that they're not a cab, but only a livery service. But livery services, under that same exemption, are required to take pre-bookings. So having this feature would give them schedule an uber ride in advance much stronger legal defense as well. In New York city you really don't need to schedule an airport pick up as you will definitely will get an Uber driver within 10 minutes, no matter the time of the day. So rather than schedule it for a particular time, just call for a car 10 minutes prior to the would be scheduled pickup time. Even if one is at another terminal it will still take 5 minutes or less for a driver to get to you. I've seen people stand in line for taxi for over half hour while circling the terminal, waiting for work. Even though I did put in a suggestion to implement scheduling, for now it remains a call-for-right-away-ride service. I drive for Uber and Lyft. I have no clue how scheduled rides work with Uber. So I'm confused I can see riders being more confused. But with Lyft it's really simple. Then on the app drivers can look for scheduled rides. It will even tell the driver about how much the ride is worth. If that driver fails to get on the app 30 minutes before the ride then your request will go to another driver 30 minutes before your requested time. Now if you request a scheduled ride don't expect a driver to take it. It's pointless for a driver to accept a ride ahead of time that they will have to wait 30 minutes to pick you up. So as long as your on the Lyft app and request a ride that cost some money you will get a driver immediately. So in my opinion schedule schedule an uber ride in advance ride with Lyft not Uber. In general both are fine with regular rides. But Lyft is way better for scheduled rides.

With Uber, a scheduled ride is nothing more than a scheduled ride request. Here are the steps to order your scheduled Uber ride 1. Ordinarily, you won't be matched with a driver until shortly before the scheduled time of your trip usually a few minutes , so canceling ahead of that period shouldn't incur a fee. Tap the big blue Schedule button to confirm your ride. The following sequence of steps have to be implemented in the specified order to make a correct booking — 1. Set the date and time window for your pickup 5. Schedule at least 60 minutes in advance to lock in your price ahead of your trip so you can avoid surprises. So rather than schedule it for a particular time, just call for a car 10 minutes prior to the would be scheduled pickup time. Schedule an Uber ride 15 minutes to 30 days in advance of when you'd like to be picked up by tapping the clock icon before you confirm your ride. I've seen people stand in line for taxi for over half hour while circling the terminal, waiting for work.
